Any one know why they chose Magnolia trees to plant along Robert E Lee?

I was wondering b/c Magnolia's get so BIG and they have power lines all along Robert E Lee.

Are they Magnolia's that won't grow big?

I was wondering the same thing. They should be fine; for a while at least. I believe that three issues down the road could be 1) close spacing, limbs hanging over the roadway (yes, they will reall grow horizontally), and 3) large leaves and "cones" than don't rot well all over the roadway. Just sayin' Hell, I'll probably be dead or daft by then!
