I was informed by a neighbor on that block that a young couple and their two children were returning home Saturday night. Unknown to them they were being following by two black men. When they pulled up to their home the men held them up at gun point and also took their car. What a horrible experience for the couple and their young children. They have just recently moved into their new home. What a welcome.

Please always be aware of your surrounding when you are returning home from being out -- it seems as the "bad guys" are aware. Please share this with all neighbors so they too can be more viligant.

thanks for the heads up.

I hope this is an isolated incident. I installed security cams all over my property and in the alley behind my house that are always being recorded, I hope I never have to replay them.

That is terrible what happened to that family. I hope they catch those guys.

We just had an attemped robbery in my neighborhood
(marshal foch/homedale st).
Last friday a neighbor came home from work and caught 2 colored guys trying to steal his truck.
one of them took off on foot the other and a car.
the neighbor started to run after the one on foot, as the guy(robber) was running to the one in the car.
as the neighbor came around the corner he saw another neighbor and told him what was going on and he began running after them as well. when the other neigbor began runnng that is when both robbers were in the car and BEGAN SHOOTING at him.
I HEARD TWO LOUD POPS AND RAN OUTSIDE. the neighbor yelled he was shot.

All of this took place at 6pm!!! Forunately the neighbor did not get hit.
the gun that was used was some type of pellet gun. it left markings on another neighbors house.

they caught the 2 guys (from the east)

THE point is never run after any robbers and BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDING AT ALL TIMES OF THE DAY

next time it could be wose.

Today we heard of a mother being held up at gunpoint on Gen. Diez in broad daylight with her two children present. This just days after the carjacking in the same area of Lakeview.

As you may know, Lakeview is a neighborhood of familes who enjoy being outside, whether it is biking, walking or simply playing with our children on the front lawn. I would hate to see career criminal type thugs ruin another New Orleans neighborhood.

What is the plan of attack for the Lakeview Crime Provention District Police, as well as the New Orleans Police Department's Third District to combat this increase in violent crime? People of Lakeview choose to live here because historically we do not see this type of crime. Certainly the $100 assessment we pay can be utilized to increase patrols that appear to have slacked off in the past few months.

I totally agree .
What good is it to have that $100 assesment when the patrols are slacking.
I rarely ever see any patrolling in any neighborhoods anymore.
What is up wth that.

I also think the increase in crime is not only because the police protection is not as visiable as before, but do to the people who rent their properties to just anyone who can pay or vouche for the rent.

Lakeview is a beautiful place for families to live.
It would be nice if the property owners who do rent would have at least some respect for the neighbors and screen there renters first.

love and live in lakeview

With that said, it is also up to us to keep our eyes and ears open to give the police the help they need. They can't be everywhere at once.

As new neighbors move in, take the time to introduce yourself, tell them about our association and give them contact information for the neighbors, police and other important info.
