Has anybody heard anything about what is to be done to the old Troop B building? It looks bad and it seems the state should do something to clean it up.

Not only should the State clean up that area, but the City or the Corps should clean up the trailers setting at Bellaire and Hammond Hwy. that have not even been cleaned out since they were totally under water. What a fine example our government is - all the way from the bottom to the top.

While I am digging up an old thread, there is movement to report on rebuilding this site.

This fall FEMA/GOHSEP provisionally allowed the design of a consolidated Motor Vehicles facility to go forward. This new facility will merge the three original buildings into one, and the new design will meet current codes and standards. The design is progressing and, barring FEMA or GOHSEP objections, the current schedule has it ready for Contractors to Bid it sometime in late April or early May.

My office is currently designing this project for the State. Both my wife and I are from Lakeview originally, and both our parents were living there when the storm hit. (And my parents are coming back!)

Just thought y'all would like to know.
