Does anyone know the rules on driveways? Can you have one coming off the street as long as only one car is pulled into it. Is there a restriction on cars parking behind each other.

Someone told me that you can only build a driveway off the alleyway.

Any information would be appreciated.

The off-street parking requirements for the Lakeview Single-Family Residential District shall comply with the general parking standards in Article 15, subject to the following modifications:

1. Single-family residences having no service alley access shall require only one (1) off-street parking space.

2. All other single and two-family residences shall require two (2) parking off-street parking spaces.

3. No parking shall be allowed in the required front yard setback.

4. Curved, circular or square driveways in the front yard setback area shall be prohibited.

5. Driveways may cross the required front yard to access on-site parking in rear or the side of the property only and shall be restricted to twenty (20) feet in width.

6. For corner properties, off-street parking shall be permitted in the corner sideyard setback.

So as long as a driveway goes past your 20ft setback, you can park past that. Meaning next to your house and further back.

Yes according to the zoning rules.
Your driveway would have to extend all the way to the back of the yard.

Keep in mind that if you don't have alley access then you can build a regular driveway in the front.

With concrete going for about $98 a yard you might want to consider alley access.
