Hi!

My name is Kathleen Ledet, and I'm a UNO alumna from the Film Department who graduated in the spring of 2007. During that spring semester, I made a short documentary for a documentary production course with two other UNO students, Sarah McKnight and Jen Suran. The film is called WEEDING BY EXAMPLE, and it tells the story of the ‘Mow-Rons,’ a determined group of volunteers who have been working to bring City Park back after Katrina.

With the help of the Film Department, I have recently set up a screening Iof WEEDING BY EXAMPLE and several other UNO students’ Katrina-related documentary and narrative films to commemorate the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The films tell the stories of New Orleanians living through the storm and its aftermath. Several of the films have screened at multiple film festivals around the country and won awards at these festivals.

The screening is set for Wednesday, August 27th at 7:00 PM (with refreshments to be served at 6:30 PM) on UNO's Campus at Kirschman Hall-Room 137. It is free to the public, and a Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screening. Below is a description of all the films to be screened.

UNO is so connected to the Lakeview community that we think many residents may be interested to see the quality work UNO students have made to commemorate Katrina, and we would love to have as many Lakeview residents attend as can make it.

Hope to see you all there!

To Kathleen and all UNO students who took part on filming the "aftermath'' of Katrina.

Of course as you know I am not a UNO student, just a Lakeview resident who truly loves New Orleans!!!

I personally want to say THANK YOU AND BRAVO!!!!!.....TO ALL!

I and Iam sure most New Orleans citizens would agree that we are grateful to have such talented students/filmmakers.

Thank s to you all for sending the message all around the states, that New Orleans is a city that should not/will not die!

The heart and soul of our city was truly captured in all the films along with some laughter.

The films showed that New orleans still needs help and that the citizens are willing to do anything it takes to bring it back.

Thank you all again for all you have done and continue to do!

It was my first time seeing ''short films'' and I enjoyed them all very much.

I look forward to seeing more.
Please keep me posted on any future films of Katrina or just the city itself.
