As you know we arrested Lance Williams for the TV burglaries in
Lakeview. Just because we made this one arrest we can't let our guard
down. We know Williams had an accomplice and we are still looking for
him and anyone else who breaks the law in our district.

It is important in any burglary case that the police can identify
the stolen property. The engravers that you have at the "Beacon" could
go a long way in helping slow burglaries in Lakeview and the 3rd
District. Please get the work out about the free use of the engravers
and ask everyone to place and identifying mark, such as a drivers
license number, on anything of value especially electronics. Being
able to identify property helps us make better cases. We have to remain
vigilant and stay one step in front of the crooks. Engraving our
property is one way of doing just that. The service you provide, with
the use of the free engravers, makes it easy for everyone to help
themselves and the police.

Thanks for getting the work out.

Capt. Greg Elder
Commander, Third District

Today we heard of a mother being held up at gunpoint on Gen. Diez in broad daylight with her two children present. This just days after the carjacking in the same area of Lakeview.

As you may know, Lakeview is a neighborhood of familes who enjoy being outside, whether it is biking, walking or simply playing with our children on the front lawn. I would hate to see career criminal type thugs ruin another New Orleans neighborhood.

What is the plan of attack for the Lakeview Crime Provention District Police, as well as the New Orleans Police Department's Third District to combat this increase in violent crime? People of Lakeview choose to live here because historically we do not see this type of crime. Certainly the $100 assessment we pay can be utilized to increase patrols that appear to have slacked off in the past few months.
