I have noticed that there is no activity on grocery stores or pharmacies. Is there any idea when some of these businesses are planning to open?

good question. I would guess that grocery stores would wait for more people to move in the area. Could you imagine the loss they would take on all the perishible items every month.

But I'm sure they will be back.

I have to say though that many like my family do not want to move back because there are no groceries or drug stores there yet.

People that have moved back say it is miserable living there because nothing is close and they hate having to go into Metairie to get what they need.

Groceries control how much stock they keep. All they would have to do is not keep a lot of perishables on hand. They don't have to keep the same inventory as they did before Katrina. A small grocery carrying a basic line of items would clean up and would encourage more people to move back.

Just heard today that as of this past week, Lakeview Fine Foods is not coming back and neither is Meme's.

Robert's plans to come back, but not until other businesses start coming back to the mall. But if everyone has that attitude, no one will return.

This is not encouraging. Is there anything that can be done to bring back such vital businesses? If I had the knowhow and backing I would open a grocery myself.

I hear Rouses' will be moving into the Lakeview Fine Foods Building.

That is good news. Any idea when?
