The Infrastructure Committee is proud to report the establishment of five (5) sub-committees which are:
1) Utilities - sub-committee:
a) Developed working relation report and post to website the status of reconnections for electric, gas, water,Cox cable and telephone. A graphic grid will be maintained by the sub-committee to depict progress.
b) Status and anticipated completion of the repairs to the West Lakeview electric sub-station.
c) Work with Nopsi and monitor the activation of all street lights in Lakeview. Prepare a grid board which will show what and when this activity will happen.
2) Transportation-sub-committee ( have RTA representative sit on the committee ):
a) Date/schedule to resume bus service in Lakeview.
b) Date/schedule to resume special needs bus service in Lakeview.
c) Work to improve the quality and the physical bus stops on our corners.
d) Status of the proposed transfer station at Canal Blvd. & City Park.
3) Community Facilities:
a) Two (2) administration house trailers will be installed in Lakeview. The first will be a Delgado parking lot on City Park Blvd. and the second is proposed for the Robert E. Lee Shopping center . Awaiting final approval and installation on both sites. The timeline for installation is February 28, 2006. Additional time will be required after installation to complete the internet, wire required and furnishing. A sub-committee is in place to handle overseeing this project and solicitation volunteers to staff this facilities.
b) City Representatives from the city house and or permit department will staff these trailers along with volunteers from our district 5.
c) Lakeview volunteers will be allowed to attend a training session for the purpose of understand and implementation of the permitting proceedure and other general matters concerning our recovery.
4) Demolition/Storm Cleanup-sub-committee:
a) Organize subcommittee to work daily with FEMA/COE to determine:
1) Progress of clean up to date and were do you go from here?
2) Milestone dates for task underway and future tasks.
3) Status of future contract which involve levee reconstruction, clean-up, COE house demolition and city administered contracts for house demolition.
b) Monitoring and assisting with the permits and progress to action for demolition and building permits for reconstruction.
c) Status of the new FEMA flood maps required for new construction and demolition.
d) Sub-committee to over see any environmental testing, studies and reports concerning soil and air quality with periodic reports via our website.
5) Quality of Life issues-sub-committee:
a) To work with the Orleans Levee Board or responsible agency concerning mosquitoes control.
b) Schedule and coordination of garbage pick-up in Lakeview community.
c) Schedule and coordination of mail delivery back to Lakeview Area.
d) Return of all city services to Lakeview.
