Disaster survivors Need Not Pay Taxes on Insurance Reimbursements
Members of the California Society of CPAs (www.calcpa.org) point out that because the wildfires were a federally declared disaster, money victims receive from their insurance companies to replace their belongings is not taxable even if the amount is above what they originally paid for the damaged property and its contents
