Experts suggest several precautions homeowners can take before
hiring a contractor!

* Gather three estimates
* Gather three references and check them
*Get everything expected from contractor in writing
*Make sure contract has a provision setting a timeline for completing work!
*Make sure contractor provides protection fromliability to suplier if a contractor
fails to pay the supplier for materials.
*Confirm that the contractor has workers compensation and liability insurance.
*Never pay in cash.
*Never pay more than 10%, or $1000, whichever is less, as a down payment.
