Lakeview Civic Improvement Association is pleased to announce that the
Rebuild Lakeview Steering Committee has been formed to help
facilitate a
plan to be submitted to the Bring New Orleans Back Commission. The
Steering Committee is made up of the current and past presidents of
LCIA
and the Presidents or their representatives from Lake Vista,
Lakeshore,
Lakewood and Parkview, (District 5 in the BNOB planning chart). The
committee is in the process of establishing subcommittees and
responsibilities that will require the input and work of dozens of
volunteers to help meet the challenges of rebuilding our community.
We
truly will seek one voice for our recovery.

We are also in the process of establishing a Lakeview Community
Information Center at the Gulf Coast Bank on Harrison Avenue to help
aid
in the recovery process for our neighborhood, particularly for people
that may not have regular access to the Internet.

A community meeting is planned for Saturday, February 11, at 11 am at
First Baptist Church on Canal Blvd (just above City Park Avenue) for
additional discussion about plans for Lakeview and to enable
volunteers
to sign up for the many tasks in front of us. Please attend this
meeting
to hear about these plans and to sign up for one of the many committee
positions that are available. All residents of District 5 are welcome.

This rebuilding mission is clearly the largest one that our community
has faced since inception almost a century ago. We hope you will join
with us in every way possible to help make it a success. Thank you.

First off I would like to thank all involed and everyone that attened (big turnout).

The meeting went very well we were able to hear what all the speakers were saying, and the Q&A at the end was wonderful.

Some of the highlights of the meeting:
Lakeview, Lakewood, Lake Vista, etc.... are now working together with ONE real voice.

Not only is there a plan to get the area back, but future plans to really set our neighborhoods apart (Oak Trees on the neutral grounds, better looking street lights)

Demolition and rebuilding was a big topic. Don't leave a blighted home in the Lakeview area, it won't be tolerated.

The Lakeview Crime Prevention is back up and running with a min. of 2 cars 24 hours a day.

I almost forgot about the signs all over Lakeview, if you see them on public property, take them down. We still have laws in New Orleans, an area that looks lawless will become lawless.

We have some very qualified people that are heading and working in each group, thank y'all.
