If you had homeowners insurance and are still paying for it you are covered.

No.
We went a little overboard and tried to make sure we were overinsured this time. We got renters insurance for 50k contents and liability for the lot in lakeview (once the house is demolished and we can cancel our homeowners). The policy we got is from Farmers, and the main reason we got it is because (at least right now) Farmers will convert renters policies to homeowners - so we hope to eliminate problems getting homeowners once our new house is built.
I don't really know if the rate is reasonable compared to pre-K, though.

My insurance broker did not indicate there would be any trouble getting renters insurance. She did say that homeowners was currently challenging to get.
