Here's the latest hitch if you are trying to buy. I went to closing on the house I purchased in Lakeview yesterday. The title company collected for builder's risk insurance as agreed to with the insurance company I chose. Today I find out from my agent that I have no insurance. YESTERDAY the insurance industry in New Orleans decided you need a structural engineering report for builder's risk. They are rewriting the rules as the days go by, with no notification to the public that this is happening!
It isn't the levees that are keeping people from coming back and repopulating....it's the insurance industry and the mortgage companies who are making it daily more and more difficult to purchase in the city.
