We had that same fight with State Farm, they told us they over paid to many policies and now the NFIP wants to check every home.
We had $204,000 of flood
1. State Farm said they were going to pay the full $204,000
2. 10 Days later they call back and say they can only pay $135,000
3. They send out and adjuster and the amount is lowered to $75,000
4. They send out another one and it is at $145,000
My advice is to get a contractor, and have him nit-pick everything. That everything evenon the second floor has to be replaced, that the house could have twisted, the entire home has to be repainted, if you had plaster walls to get an estimite on that etc..
Bottom line call a contractor and tell him your situation, if you use him to repair the home, there will be no charge.
