If I purchase a home in Lakeview that was considered damaged by greater than 50%, will the city still tear down the house without any cost?

The original owner should have had it done before you took ownership.

The process works like this:
1. File for city to demo
2. City asks if the prop. had insurance
3. Yes had insurance = File an ICC with your insurance, they must pay
4. No insurance = get on the waiting list

I am not 100% sure of this but I think only the original homeowner on Aug. 28th 2005 can have the city or insurance company demo the home.

You are viewed as an "invester" and not a "homeowner" so your options might be limited.

Get some quotes from demo companies, but include Sam @ La. Demo in one of your quotes, great service and rates.

Please keep in mind that blighted property will occur fines and even liens from the city.

Good Luck and thanks for investing in Lakeview, Welcome Home
