Can anyone verify that the City Dept of Permits will not charge homeowners a building permit fee for a new house plan review if submitted prior to March 31, 2006? I thought I heard Mr. Centineo state at one of the LCIA mtgs that the permits would be free to homeowner if submitted prior to 3/31/06 - I might have been having a Katrina moment....
Any info on fee for building permit on new house plans would be of asssitance. Or info on the plan submission process.
Thank you

Permits are only free if they are for repair permits. Permits that require a review are not free.

Most of the homes near our demolished home are either sitting idle, are for sale or have been demolished.

Given current IZD restrictions for Lakeview we cannot build a raised one-story house of 1450 square feet with a wrap around porch on our corner lot.

Please drive around Lakeview and other devasted areas of the city. Most of the houses in Lakeview and surrounding devastated areas are sitting idle.

IZD restrictions for Lakeview are very discouraging. I don't want to build a $600000 home. I want to be able to replace my demolished 1350 square foot slab single family home with a 1450 square foot raised single family home with a wrap around porch on our corner lot.

New Orleans neighborhoods will never be the same.

Shouldn't we consider that relaxed IZD restrictions would result in a better & safer Lakeview.

Please consider waiving the stringent IZD restrictions for Lakeview and contact our councilwoman in support of this position.

Let's rebuild a better and safer Lakeview now. Let's not allow our neighborhoods to sit idle any longer.

You can access the IZD restrictions from the Lakeview Civic Home page.
